About Me

My name's Benjamin Solah; I'm a horror writer and Marxist revolutionary living in Melbourne, Australia. I work full-time in an office but prefer to focus my attention on writing and politics. I write horror stories with a political edge - I like to portray capitalism as brutal and unjust. I'm also involved in politics as a revolutionary socialist and can frequently be found at left-wing protests including against wars, racism, attack's on worker's rights, environmental destruction, sexism and homophobia.

365: Day 29

Day 029

Craft is fun. I haven’t wielded a glue stick in a long time. But planning my novel for National Novel Writing Month in November is a great excuse.

I started this notebook and plan to write notes and ideas in it. And stick things in there like quotes and photos and collage type things.

Perhaps it will give me interesting things to photograph this month.

  • Benjamin,
What a great idea. I’ve been jotting notes in my itouch for my nanowrimo novel but I really like the crafty – touchy – feely approach. Reminds me of my daughters homework projects!

You know, I looked at that last night and I’m thinking of participating. November’s pretty busy for me this year, but I still may give it a go anyway.

That’s so great… I have a butt load of notebooks strewn around the house in order to keep my thoughts in order, but honestly other than a little doodling, I’ve never thought about decorating the front cover… I may have to rethink that now.

  • Now I desperately want to pick a topic and find a brilliant graphic to go with it. What do you think of a bit of craft collage for a story board to go with the snowflake method. It is something I’ve always been interested in doing.

As I don’t plan or even write notes (I really wing nit!) the novel “front cover” would probably work best as a motivation poster in my writing space.

You have the best ideas Ben. So glad the Universe sent you as a friend :)

I got a great-ish shot of the full moon tonight for my 365 day photo.

  • Jodi: Apologies for taking ages to reply to comments. A craft collage sounds great. Thanks Jodi. Glad to have you pushing me along too!
